The Official Next Manager Discussion
Firstly, anyone that feels the need to put 'official' in their thread titles to make it sound like their thoughts are worth more than others is a sad TWONK.

Secondly, the above rule doesn't apply to me as quite obviously what I say IS more important than the rest of you Ladles.

According to the WHO Poll, the tide is turning, at time of going to press (i really sound like a cock sometimes don't I?) 55% of those polled believe time has come for a change, with only 39% living in Frinton with their head in the sand.

So assuming Messrs Gold and Sullivan see what every right minded person sees then a change will be coming shortly.... and if not before then almost certainly at the end of the season.

So the question that this brings up is who next?

Below are a few that have been mentioned on various threads with there win % as managers.... stats taken from that fountain of all things accurate, Wikipedia:

Mark Hughes - win % 45.19 (club form only)

McClaren - win% 50.51 (club form only)

Bilic - Win % 67.88 (club and country as only managed half a season for club)

Curbs - Win % 39.46

Pardew - Win % 42.83

For the record the win % for Zola is 28.78

Feel free to add your own suggestions and/or discuss the above.

Personally I would like to see us approach McClaren. He has been successful in the premiership and has a good coaching pedigree. People will say he is boring, they'll state his dutch accent and the Brolly incident were embarrassing.... but I would prefer it if we chose our managers on their ability rather than how the press portray them... i'd like to think we've learnt our lesson on that one.

But any of the above would be better than staying with Zola. If fact I struggle to think of anyone that would be worse.

Thanks for reading

Mr Polite,

McLaren's an utter wanker and he should never manage a football club in Britain again.

I can't believe anyone would seriously want McClaren here. the man is a joke and is a proven failure. Forget his (extremely well backed by one of the best Chairmen in football), time at 'Boro. He had the best english players at his disposal and couldn't qualify for a tournament because he was tactically clueless and an awful motivator. FACT-O-RAMA. I couldn't give a shite what he has done in Holland. Perhaps we should approach whichever manager is leading the Iranian league at the moment if all that matters is doing well in your current job?

I have been a Zola suporter all along but his time is nearly up. Fail to win tomorrow and he has to go. Forget the problems he has had to deal with - the time for excuses is now over.

If he goes, then I would like (but I am sure we won't get), either Hodgson or Hughes.

FC Twente qualified for the UEFA Champions League even before McClaren was manager so they are not a small team.

McClaren = Glenn Roeder. I think I would rather have Zola than McCunt.

I've got to agree with the others on here who reckon that IF we lose to both Birmingham and Hull at home - or only pick-up one or two points at most from these two fixtures - Zola will get the chop.

And if he gets the chop, Mark Hughes must surely be top of the list as a replacement.

We may be struggling but we're a decent-sized, famous, traditional and fashionable old club and a lot of managers would love the opportunity of taking-on the job.

Personally I think Zola and Clarke are doing a good job considering the club's circumstances since they took over.

If they did decide to change my preference would be.

Bilic
Hughes
Clarke

In that order.

Re: The Official Next Manager Discussion
todays press reports make me cringe

banging on about us being bigger than brum etc etc

fuck me we dont want the opposition motivated anymore than normal giving our situation

the comments about ossie and zola also a bit alarming.......lets hope it fucks the playing staff off in the right way and they now deliver for this manager they all keep saying how much they love

I agree BC but the whole Dyer thing sticks in my throat and also would he be the long term solution? I persinally think we should go for forgien EXPERIENCE.

taking injuries away Hodgson has done wonders at Fulham and I think someone with foreing nouse would get us ticking. We have to be more clinical and ruthless.

I would go for McCalren , I think he'd have a big point to prove.....forget the England debacle that was too soon and also you never make your coach the manager, it hardly ever works.......

McClaren???
Do me a favour.
No way at Upton Park.
For Christ sake.

He's taken TC Twente (who most of us have never heard of) to the top of the Dutch league along side PSV and above Ajax and Feyenord all of which would give us more than a run for our money.....

Gotta be Curbs with Megson as assistant and Maclaren holding the brolly saying 'yes, boss'. What a feast of football we'd have then. Or why not Allardyce? You lot make me laugh. This is the same blx as the muppets who shouted 'Lyall Out'.
